$500 Scholarship for Essay about the U.S. Constitution

How is the U.S. Constitution relevant to your life today?

WWRC is offering a scholarship of $500 to the high school senior who writes the best essay on the subject “How is the U.S. Constitution relevant to your life today?” The student must be a resident of Town of Cary or Morrisville, NC, or a student in a high school in Cary or Morrisville.

The essay must be no more than 500 words, basically one page. The student must provide their first and last names, street address, telephone number or email address and the name of their high school.

The winning essay will be based on the following: Items selected from the Constitution-50%; Supporting arguments-20%; Effective communication-20%; Quality of writing-10%.

The essay should be emailed as an attachment to scholarship@westernwakegop.org, preferred, or mailed to Western Wake Republican Club, P.O. Box 5621, Cary, NC 27512. The essay must be received by May 15, 2011.

The check is to be presented to the winner by the North Carolina House of Representatives Majority Leader, Representative Paul Stam, at the Western Wake Republican Club Flag Day picnic, June 18, at the Kiwanis Shelter in Bond Park in Cary, where the winning essay will be read.

The documents and personal information will not be distributed to the public, other than that of the winner. Distribution of personal information about the winner will have to be approved by the winner.
